  • WHY: In 2014, to celebrate its heritage as one of Kentucky's premier Bourbon producers, Brown Forman announced the Old Forester Whiskey Row series featuring a line of expressions that would showcase the evolution of the brand from its origins. The 1910 edition references a fire that same years that shut down the Old Forester bottling line, resulting in an awaiting batch being put back into barrel until the line was repaired. 
  • HOW: To recreate what was possibly the first ever double-barreled Bourbon, Brown Forman took a fully-matured batch of Bourbon and transferred the whiskey into new charred-oak casks, adding additional richness and vanilla from the caramelized sugars in the wood. The resulting Bourbon has more body, weight, and concentrated sweetness from the double dose of new oak.
  • WHAT: The Old Forester brand dates back to 1870 when the Brown brothers named the label after a local doctor who prescribed the whiskey to his patients. Old Forester was the first Bourbon to be sold only in bottles, rather than barrels, giving customers the confidence that nothing had been added to the whiskey in transit.

You can't help but love Old Forester's homages to previous eras, and the 1920 is universally loved. Danke schoen!!!!

One of the best bourbons out there

I have tried the OF 86, OF 1920 Prohibition and the 1910. Hands down, 1910 is not only my favorite OF (so far), but one of my favorite bourbons. It has the great OF banana foster nose, and its lovely on the palate. A nice proof without too much burn, although they could probably go up to 100 proof and the flavor could hold up to it.
