Narekatsi is a premium wine by Ijevan Wine Brandy Factory as a tribute to Grigor Narekatsi.
The bottle box is made of wood and designed with illustrations inspired by the Narekatsi legend, where he rejected his master's order to whip the cattle, jabbed the whip in the ground, and disappeared. The whip grew into an evergreen juniper tree.
WINEMAKING
The unique red wine “Narekatsi” is made of autochthonous variety of Areni grapes, grown in Aghavnadzor village, Vayots Dzor region, at about 1500-1800 meters above sea level. In order to receive high quality grapes for this wine, the whole process of growing is controlled by the winemaker. Before the maturing process starts, the 30% of clusters are removed from the grapes.
COLOR, TASTE & FLAVOR
Ruby color. The flavor is smooth with a unique structure of silky tannins and lingering finish. The mouthfeel of cherry tones with a recognizable bone and black berries. Bright aroma of ripe cherries, black cherries.
HARVESTING, ATMOSPHERE
The harvesting and sorting are thoroughly done by hand. After the fermentation process the wine. is transferred into 225L oak new barrels, where the wine is left for aging for 12 months. The wine is not filtered and after bottling goes on a six-month rest in the bottles.
