Best nose, not the best taste

When I opened the bottle, this thing smelled fantastic. I was really excited, as I was totally interesting in tasting a blend made by two top blenders, one from Japan and one from the US. This is quite an interesting release, and it had my interest piqued. The smell was fantastic. My friend and I were both totally ready for a super high quality drink.....and then we tasted it, and it fell a bit flat. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely didn't live up to the expectations from the smell. It's too bad, too, as the opportunity was there for something special, and instead, it's a middle of the road blended whiskey with about the right price tag.
