Laphroaig 35 Year Old Strong Characters Chapter 2 is a rare Islay single malt Scotch whisky and the second release in their series honoring the people who shaped Laphroaig. This limited edition celebrates Dugald Johnston, son of co-founder Donald Johnston. His place in their heritage is part of the courage and conviction that still guide us today.
Bottled at 43.8% ABV, Strong Characters: Chapter 2 is a whisky that reveals a softer, more nuanced side of Laphroaig -patient and considered, much like the man it honours.
Matured exclusively in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, the extended maturation has mellowed Laphroaig's signature peat smoke into something creamy and complex, while its unmistakable character remains intact.
Initial sweetness, followed by notes of freshly baked pastry, apple and cherry.
A pleasing smokiness to the fore, with spice on the palate. A creamy mouthfeel, with a light note of raisin in the background.
Lingering aniseed taste, with a slight peppery tingle, fading slowly back to the original peat smoke.
