Hypatia Rubi Amaro 750ml

$49.99

SKU: 19462

From Francis Ford Coppola's Great Women Spirits line. Hypatia was a renowned teacher of philosophy in 4th century Egypt, but her lessons conflicted with the rise of Christianity. Blamed for inciting leaders who favored the ancient wisdoms over religious rule, Hypatia was beaten to death and her works were burned. This inspiring mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher is honored with a liqueur crafted from classic bitters of herbs, flowers, roots, and citrus peels, distilled with pure spring water from their Napa Valley Estate, and made from an 1800s formulation, still colored by carmine red.

Bitter blood orange peel entry, lemon verbena floral lift, maraschino cherry, orange black tea spice, savory mushroom and toasted walnut weight filling out the mouth, crisp red endive and woody grape stalk finish. Containing, among other secret ingredients, wormwood, gentian, bitter orange peels, cochineal beetle, and pinot noir stems.

Terrible, something you'd gift to a frenemy

It's definitely spirit forward, with some floral flavors.

Everything has an audience, but I don't feel like this is my cup of tea. For me personally, this had a very ethanol alcohol-forward taste, with almost unnatural Floral elements.

It just lacks the depth and body that other floral Italian Amari have like Ramazzotti Aperitivo Rosato.

Honestly, no holding back, I think Coppola makes better movies than he did this Hypathia Rubi Amaro. Lol.

85% alcohol forward
15% sweet

Nose is 90% ethanol.
10% floral

Taste is:
Can I say "gasoline?" Lol.
80% ethanol
20% generic floral

In summary, the overall taste is cheap, like something you'd find at a spring break pop-up bar if you ordered a well drink that was the most inexpensive thing on the menu.

I won't be buying this again anytime soon.

I did a "nice" video about it here
