  • WHY: GlenAllachie's 15 year expression is drier than the 12 or the 18 year release, but still packed with cakebread, rum spices, toffee, and dried oak notes that make for a complex and delicately flavored whisky.

  • HOW: Using a combination of sherry casks, Billy Walker (of Glendronach and Benriach fame) has put together a whisky that stands apart from the two bookend releases and offers something more than just three additional years in cask. It's an entirely different experience from front to back.

  • WHAT: GlenAllachie Distillery, formerly part of the Chivas Blended empire, was purchased in 2017 by an independent group who immediately brought in veteran Billy Walker to put his mark on the malts. The entire line-up was revamped in 2018 and an exciting array of new releases has been coming since. The 18 year is bottled at 46% ABV.

Exploring Glenallachie line.

Solid choice, fair price. Liked the 10 yr cask strength better but the 15 is a good addition to the bar.
