Framento is a beautifully distinctive Orvieto Classico, from the ancient church lands of Umbria, Italy—land entrusted to two clerics back in 1212, with the Church of Santa Maria di Decugnano at its heart. Nearly 800 years later, in 1973, Claudio Barbi rediscovered the property and began bringing its vineyards back to life. Today, his son Enzo carries on the tradition.
In the glass, Grechetto, Procanico, Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc come together in a wine that is soft and round. Think white peach, honeydew, lemon, lime, and flowers, with plenty of acidity and a lovely streak of salinity. It’s medium-light bodied, 13% ABV, and—while certainly fresh—isn't bone dry.
It's a perfect summer white: ideal with fish, shrimp and seafood, or creamy, green pastas and pizzas, or whatever life choices that may land you in confessional.
Holy water? No. Holy wine? We’ll take it.
