The 2024 Catena Appellation Lujan de Cuyo White Clay is a compelling testament to the high-altitude terroir of Mendoza, blending approximately 60% Semillon with 40% Chenin Blanc.

Named for the distinct white clay soils of this district, this wine offers a sophisticated departure from the region’s more ubiquitous Malbecs. 

On the nose, it is intensely aromatic, leading with notes of green apple, citrus zest, and white flowers, underpinned by a subtle, flinty minerality. The palate is where the "white clay" influence truly shines; the Semillon provides a rounded, slightly oily texture and weight, while the Chenin Blanc contributes a vibrant acidity that keeps the wine focused and fresh.

Flavors of pear and lemon curd are complemented by a hint of honeycomb and a distinct saline finish. 

This vintage is particularly notable for its tension and balance. It avoids the heaviness sometimes associated with lower-altitude whites, maintaining a crisp profile that makes it an excellent partner for Asian cuisine, particularly Thai or Cantonese dishes.

Its citrus and saline notes beautifully complement grilled seafood, scallops, and prawns. The wine has enough body to pair with grilled chicken, veal scaloppine, or herb-roasted pork. It pairs well with fresh garden salads featuring tangy vinaigrettes, as well as roasted root vegetables.
