It’s all about the water and the charring! It took quite a while to find the right water to make Carefree Bourbon what it is today. The bourbon is placed in new charred oak barrels at 120 proof and has been aging for just under 3 years. It is 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malt. When extracted from the barrel in the distillery it is brought down to 90 proof or 45% alcohol by volume.
