Bruichladdich Classic Laddie Scottish Barley Single Malt Whisky 750ml
I love it on ice, taking time to smell the aromas from the glass and letting your taste buds experience the sensations.
When Bruichladdich announced that the Laddie 10 would no longer be produced, and that they would be moving away from the age statement for the Laddie series, I was interested to see what they were going to release in its place. Unfortunately, the classic Laddie just doesn't do anything as well as the bottle it replaced. The Laddie 10 was well balanced, with a wood forward pallet, but a very light finish, that allowed you to taste all the different notes that Bruichladdich can put into a bottle. The Classic Laddie, while only aged a couple more years, took the bite out of the liquid, and gave the bottle a perfect finish that lingered long, but not too strong. With the increased push to remove age statements, it's understandable why they made the change, as 7-8 year old liquids turn faster, but in this instance, it just makes me long for that Laddie 10 bottle even more. If you have the money, spend up on the Bere Barley bottles, where the 2008 and 2010 have a much more unique profile, and better in every way.
