WHY: With its heavy, mouth-coating flavors of butterscotch and brown sugar, the Angel's Envy rye is one of the hedonistic American whiskies on the market today, dessert-like from front to back with plenty of spice.
HOW: Much like Angel's Envy finishes its Bourbon in Port barrels, the rye expression is transferred into Caribbean rum barrels for an extended maturation, imparting the added richness and sweetness to the rye whiskey.
WHAT: While Angel’s Envy now has an operational distillery in Louisville, KY, the rye whiskey is purchased and contracted from MGP distillery in Indiana, then bottled by Angel's Envy. Originally founded by Woodford Reserve creator Lincoln Henderson, the brand is carried on today by his son Wes. The Angel's Envy rye is bottled at 50% ABV.
TASTE: Aromas of citrus, caramel candy, maple sugar, vanilla, oak, hazelnut, spice, and sherry wood. Sweet rum, sherry wood, and soft oak on the palate with a sweet and dry finish.
