Pineau des Charentes is one of France's most distinctive and underappreciated fortified wines — a blend of fresh grape juice and Cognac eau-de-vie that is then aged in oak, a tradition deeply rooted in the Charente region. Lhéraud's 1976 Très Vieux Pineau is a rare vintage expression from the four-generation family estate in Angeac-Charente, crafted from Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard grapes and aged for nearly five decades. At 17% ABV, it arrives deep amber with mahogany highlights, offering aromas of rancio, fresh walnuts, toasted hazelnuts, dark forest honey, prunes, and sweet spice. The palate is silky and oily with a beautiful balance of natural sweetness and a long, warm finish. Presented in a signature wooden gift box — as considered a package as what's inside.
