EXCELLENT
Had to write a review after reading the only one here. The knock on Lore from most negative reviews was that it didn’t have the normal Laphroaig bite and wasn’t peaty enough. Which makes the previous reviewers take really odd as it’s quite the opposite complaint. This is not a harsh whisky, it’s actually really well balanced, smooth and easy to drink.
This is a pretty mellow version of the standard Laphroaig taste. It’s less harsh and much more elegantly subtle which is often a minus for fans of the distillery. However it’s still a Laphroaig and isn’t for everyone. It’s more in line with Lagavulin 16 than Ardbeg 10 but it’s still a bog peat bomb
If you like heavily peated Islay style whisky but less in your face than the distillery generally serves up, then this is an excellent choice. It’s not however a beginners whisky, or a good option for non peat heads or even a good option for super peated aficionados which makes it in a pretty narrow niche.
I’m liking it. Even my wife, who has an art background and doesn’t drink alcohol, was impressed by how good the label looks.
When will mission realize the trend is dead. The boom is bust. Market is flooded and total sales is way down. Put a 20% or 30% mark up and call it done. $229 for a $79 bottle is gay as fuck
