I am not a big authority on American malt whiskey, having only sampled maybe 5 or 6. The Westward is pretty good. It is definitely not bad and it is actually pretty good! You can sip it neat, and you'll get a subtle sweetness, not really fruity, more vanilla in sweetness than fruit. It's an easy sipper that doesn't challenge you too much, it has a friendly and welcoming taste and you'll be back for more! Or use it in a highball. I made mine with ginger beer and it was fabulous! This bottle is easily on par with Baller, Balcones Malt, and IMO it beats Westland pretty easily.

I absolutely love Westward Whiskey. It is an extremely smooth and delicious whiskey at a reasonable price.
Had the pleasure of first enjoying a Westward cocktail at the Lyaness bar. Great addition to my Whiskey selection, really stands out and provides new takes on classic old fashions and Manhattans. Can't wait to try their Stout!
I was first introduced to Westward Whiskey when I visited the distillery in Portland, OR. I was first impressed with the knowledgeable and passionate staff; then I was floored by how incredible their whiskey is. I have always been a fan of malt whiskey and appreciate how balanced and complex Westward is. Its BOLD, with just the right amount of SWEETNESS and SPICE but it doesn't stop there, FRUITY, FLORAL and EARTHY! Be still my heart, this is my favorite whiskey! I even joined their Whiskey Club and now have access to rare, special releases. Each quarterly release is better than the last, I can't wait to see what's next for Westward Whiskey!
