As rock bands have evolved into legacy enterprises over the last few decades, finding a way to distill the essence of a band into something physical, beyond the simple vinyl record, has been at the forefront of the industry. In the case of Lynyrd Skynyrd, the remaining band members took inspiration from their original rehearsal grounds: the Hell House.
 
Hell House was an old cabin in the woods that singer Johnny Van Zant’s older brother rented on the bank of a creek outside of Jacksonville, Florida. The band wrote most of their first and second albums at Hell House and—as you can imagine—drank a lot of Jack Daniels. In memorizing the energy and nostalgia of those days, the group recently created Hell House American Whiskey: a 90 proof spirit done in conjunction with Bespoken Spirits, using oak staves to add additional richness during maturation.
 
For Southern rock savants and diehards of the genre, it’s likely you already own this bottle! For the rest of us, it’s a chance to crank up the stereo, let the riffs ring out, and remember an era of music that was synonymous with American whiskey.
