TASTING NOTES
An intense red with purple hues in color, the aroma is layered with brown spice and ripe black fruit. This wine has immense power and finesse. The flavors are layered with dark roasted oak, aromatic spice and ripe fruit with hints of chocolate and dark toffee.
VINEYARD NOTES
Moon Mountain is a unique appellation located on the southern end of the Mayacamas Range overlooking the Sonoma Valley. The vineyards range in altitude from 400 to over 2,000 feet, characterized by ancient volcanic soils and lava flows. The area basks in the warmth of the day, with cooling breezes rolling in from the Pacific Ocean during the afternoon.
PRODUCTION NOTES
Grapes were hand-sorted and gently crushed. After native-yeast fermentation, the wine went through an extended maceration period to soften the tannins, and malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve complexity.
