Portal da Calcada's Vinho Verde Reserva comes into the glass with brilliant platinum yellow and delicate pearls. The nose is immediately determined by floral and fruity notes reminiscent of acacia blossom, some orange peel, pear and fresh watermelon.
On the palate, the Calcada Vinho Verde is crisp and fresh, yet equally soft and balanced with an invigorating yet subtle carbonation. As a Vinho Verde Reserva, the Portal da Calcada combines the lightness of the Vinho Verde with the character of a classic Alvarinho.
The grapes for this Portuguese white wine come from the Amarante region, which is characterized by granite weathering rock soils. Here and there, the floor is also interspersed with slate toppings, which especially benefits the Alvarinho in this cuvée from Loureiro, Arinto, Azal and Alvarinho. The cooling influence of the nearby Atlantic and the slow fermentation at low temperatures further reinforce the Portal da Calcada.
Enjoy this wonderful white wine from northern Portugal as an ideal summer wine or with light dishes with seafood such as scallops or scallops.
