There are few things more exciting in our industry than the arrival of a heralded new whiskey from one of the most talked-about, up-and-coming distilleries in Kentucky. Hence, why we are fired up today here at Mission to announce the arrival of New Riff Distillery, perhaps the most dynamic new Bourbon brand to hit the market since Maker’s Mark back in the 1950s.
Founded in 2014 by Ken Lewis, a visionary Kentucky liquor retailer and entrepreneur, New Riff is led by a team of corporate refugees ranging from craft beer to politics and more. Their mission is simple: to someday be counted among the world’s great small distilleries.
Family-owned and operated, the independence from corporate influence has given New Riff the freedom from outside pressures to make an unforeseen declaration for quality: for perhaps the first time since the inception of the Bottled in Bond Act in 1897, a Kentucky sour mash whiskey distillery has committed itself exclusively to that quality standard, the world’s highest—with zero chill-filtration.
This single barrel rye whiskey edition is cannot be labeled as Bottled in Bond due to the 104.3 cask strength proof, but it is still unchillfiltered. Loaded with aromas of fresh rye bread, sarsaparilla, dill, and spicy new oak, the 100% rye mashbill brings a lot of intensity with concentration of flavor. Limited to just 60 bottles in stock, grab yours before it's gone!
