Masciarelli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Founded in 1981, Masciarelli and its wines have become the standard-bearer for Abruzzo. At just 22 years old, Gianni Masciarelli believed that his home of Abruzzo could produce world-class wines. With a strong focus on vineyard management, Gianni went against the grain to reduce yield and increase quality while farming organically to ensure the health of the land for the future. In the winery, he broke the mold by introducing French barriques to add depth and complexity to his wines. The innovation Gianni brought to the vineyards and the winery has earned him the reputation for producing some of the best wines in Abruzzo.
The first line created by Masciarelli has become a landmark for the company. The Montepulciano D'Abruzzo is a classic, and reflects the genuine taste of tradition and quality of Abruzzo native wines. Deep ruby with herb and intense spice notes on the nose. On the palate, lively red berries on this medium-bodied red, complemented with red currants, violets and a hint of tobacco on the finish. Served well with barbecued meats, lamb and cheeses.
