First launched in 1992, its name came from the hill located next to the Caridade reservoir, in Herdade do Esporão. At the time, it was created with the same origin and philosophy as Esporão Reserva, but with the aim of reaching more people and making daily wine consumption an experience. Elaborated according to the Alentejo wine tradition, its diversity of grape varieties and winemaking techniques reveal the typical character of the region where it is born: rich aromas, soft palate and excellent gastronomic aptitude.
It is a wine composed of grapes from all over the region, the result of partnerships with more than 15 years with suppliers from various sub-regions, which follow the same Integrated Production System by which Esporão is governed. These sustainable practices, including the abolition of the use of pesticides and herbicides, are decisive in the quality and fertility of the soil, in the capacity for natural protection of the vineyard and, consequently, in the quality of the wines.
Always faithful to its origins, Monte Velho is Alentejo in a glass, which has, over the years, come to affirm itself as a reference of the region in Portugal and in the world.
