Corton is the only red Grand Cru in the Cote de Beaune. The Clos du Roy parcel is located near the top of the Corton hill facing due east. The soils here are clay and limestone. Grapes are hand-harvested and then carried in small wooden boxes to the cellars where they are sorted. Fermentation takes place for 20 days in open wooden vats at controlled temperature, with punching down. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
TASTING NOTES
Ruby red in color, with aromas of black cherry and raspberry. Very rich, concentrated and harmonious in the mouth. Elegant and pure, with very fine tannins and beautiful structure, this wine can be kept for up to 20 years. Pairs well with roasted red meat, game and most cheeses.
