Tablas Creek Esprit De Tablas Rouge 2014

93-95 PTS - VINOUS - "A big, explosive wine, the 2012 Esprit de Tablas is warm and ample on the palate, very much in the style of the year, yet there is plenty of power lying in reserve. In 2012, Syrah plays a larger role than in both the 2010 and 2011, which is felt in the wine's broad, expanisve personality. THis is going to be a fascinating Esprit to follow over the coming years.

91-93 PTS - ROBERT PARKER - "WHile the 2010 and 2011 had plenty of Grenache, the 2012 Esprit de Tablas incorporates additional Syrah to compensate for the forward, supple nature of the vintage. A blend of 40% Mourvedre, 30% Syrah, 21% Grenache and the balance Counoise, this solid looking barrel sample has classic blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with plenty of licorice, violets and minerality. Medium to full-bodied, elegand and streamlined, with solid underlying tannic grip, it's about as feminine an example of this cuvee as I can remember tasting. It should evolve well on its balance, but it's not one to hide away either."
