In 2007, brothers Georges Daou and Daniel Daou set forth to find a terroir for producing wine with Old World tradition and New World techniques. Their vision is to make California “first growth” wine. The mountains in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles are a prime location with calcareous clay soils which are comparable to St. Emilion, while its temperate climate closely mirrors St. Helena, Napa. This providential confluence of elements produces wines of elegance, immensity and length, and thus making their vision come to fruition. Join us in South Glendale as special guest Brandon Shepard will pour you these beautiful wines, and tell you about the amazing journey that it took to get these wines into your glass. we will also be showcasing the newest vintage of their top of the line Cabernet Sauvignon "Soul of a Lion".

2018 DAOU Sauvignon Blanc
This lovely, bright and cheery Sauvignon Blanc proffers tantalizing aromas of grapefruit, pineapple and gooseberry, with hints of quince. Floral notes of lemongrass and acacia are balanced with lychee and wet stone. Classily structured and elegantly styled, a veritable explosion of crisp and juicy fruit flavors burst upon the palate. Lemon chiffon, key lime pie and kiwi are accented with green apple, white nectarine and pineapple. Decisively refreshing, this wine finishes lean and clean with long lingering notes of dragon fruit, citrus and passion fruit.

2018 DAOU Chardonnay
This lush and luxuriant Chardonnay presents tropical aromas of pineapple, mango and freshly sliced banana, all accented by captivating accents of nutmeg, vanilla, honeysuckle, and hazelnut. The palate is voluminous and silky, unfolding with elegant flavors of honeydew melon, golden delicious apple and lemon curd. A clean, lengthy finish lingers with essences of melon, white mango. citrus, and toasty oak.

2017 Pessimist Red Blend
The Pessimist has a powerful and intensely aromatic nose that ascends to greet you with blueberry, boysenberry and black plum fragrance. Evolving layers reveal elderberry and truffle, with cocoa and cardamom spice accents, further augmented by hints of eucalyptus, leather, cherry pipe tobacco and grilled meats. The finish is smooth and leisurely. Essences of pure dark berry fruit seemingly refuse to abate with a gorgeous fitting finale.

2017 DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon has heady aromatics that affirm this is a serious wine for serious wine lovers. Bold and assertive on the palate with darker fruits, chocolate dust, espresso grounds, and cured tobacco leaf. A wine of complexity and depth with a purity of fruit and subtle layers of flavors and texture that harmonize and enhance. This wine constitutes a journey of the senses that begins with power and finishes with elegance and style.

2016 DAOU Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Blackberry, cassis, plum and currant aromas greet the nose, surrounded by black olives, anise, leather and cigar box. Notes of graphite and crushed stone mingle with just a hint of cool mint. Robust and full bodied, an undercurrent of restrained power is palpable just below the surface at the core of this wine. Firm, fine grained tannins provide ample backbone for the layers of boysenberry, black cherry, licorice and dried herb flavors. Meaty and fleshy while retaining an overall elegance, it finishes with authority and finesse.

2016 Soul of a Lion
The smooth and silky tannins are very well integrated with the fruit and acidity of the wine. In the glass, the wine reveals a deep and complex bouquet of cassis, black currant, licorice, incense, ripe plums and a hint of vanilla. A true blockbuster vintage that showcases the great power that comes from DAOU Mountain.
