Made even more famous by the movie Sideways, Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post wines are made by Buellton Hitching Post owner/chef Frank Ostini and his good friend, former fisherman Gray Hartley. Starting in 1979 with one barrel in their garage, over the years they have made Hitching Post Wine at Au Bon Climat/Qupe, Central Coast Wine Services in Santa Maria, and now at the ultra-modern Terravant in Buellton. From humble beginnings to high tech, they continue to make traditional wines of balance and finesse that emphasizes deep fruit, spice, and earthiness. Please come by to Glendale to taste a little slice of Santa Barbara heavenly earth.
2015 Hitching Post Generation Red
A blend of Merlot, Valdiguie, Tempranillo, and Syrah. “GEN RED” is the blend of grapes from several vineyards along the Central Coast. This vintage is mostly Merlot that lends roundness and drinkability, with Tempranillo for richness, Syrah and Valdiguie for spice and fruit.
2014 Hitching Post Hometown Pinot Noir
“HOMETOWN” is an early bottling of their Santa Barbara cuvee and showcases the delicious fruit of young Pinot Noir. This three valley blend is made from grapes sourced from vineyards near Los Alamos, Santa Maria and Sta. Rita Hills.
2014 Hitching Post Cork Dancer Pinot Noir
A blend of Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills vineyards, the Cork Dancer displays a rich, dark fruit profile with balanced structure and body that pairs perfectly with our grilled meats.
2014 St. Rita's Earth Pinot Noir
Four vineyards to make this cuvee: Stanford & Benedict, Fiddlestix, Strange, and Rio Vista Vineyards. This vintage exhibits earthiness and Christmas spice undertones typical of the Sta. Rita Hills.
2013 Hitching Post Bien Nacido Pinot Noir
One of the greatest vineyards of Santa Barbara, located in the Santa Maria Valley. They have been making this vineyard since 1991, and it continues to get better every year.
2014 Hitching Highlinger Post Pinot Noir
Top of the line selection, HIGHLINER, is a barrel selection (70% new French oak) of maritime-cooled vineyards in the Santa Barbara county, combining the forward fruit and richness of the Santa Maria Valley, with the earthiness and structure of fruit from the Sta. Rita Hills. The blend of vineyards can change with each vintage depending on which ones produce the best of the best for that particular growing season.
