Join us this week in South Glendale as we taste through very popular Cabernet Sauvignon from wineries that have made a name for themselves in one of the most famous winemaking regions of the world, Napa Valley.

2015 Mount Veeder Winery Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep ruby in color with aromas of dark, ripe fruit, plum, cassis, and fig with complex hints of porcini and smoked meats. Over time, dark chocolate, bergamot, with underlying hints of bay, dried herb, and peppercorn emerge on the nose. Rich, full-bodied with generous Cabernet structure, yet a very supple mouthfeel. Brambly with berry, peppercorn, and olive that fill the palate and lead to a long, lingering finish of dark fruit and notes of crème brûlée.

2014 Silverado Vineyards Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon
93 PTS – JAMES SUCKLING – “A very firm and silky red with plum and blackberry character. Chocolate and spice undertones. Medium to full body and fine and polished tannins. Lovely finish. Beautiful.”

2016 Faust Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Fans of the 2015 Faust will love the 2016, with notes of dark chocolate, blue and black fruit, and dried herbs balanced by silky tannins and lifting acidity. Rated 90+ points or higher for the last five consecutive vintages.

2014 Groth Vineyards Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in our area of the Oakville AVA. The sweet vanilla character derived from 22 months in the barrels blends well with the black cherry and blackberry flavors and aromas of the wine.

2015 Pine Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
90 PTS – THE WINE ADVOCATE – “The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color with baked berries, earth, dried herbs and leather scents. Full-bodied with a good concentration of fruit, the tannins are a bit firm but good black fruit comes through on the finish.”

2016 Schrader Cellars Double Diamond Oakville
The 2016 vintage of Double Diamond opens with layered, intriguing aromas of black currants, dark cherries, blackberry, cherry compote, toast, and oak spice with notes of herbs, pine cone, and dried earth. The palate is rich and juicy, bursting with big flavor. The tannin structure makes this a great wine to enjoy upon release, but it will also mellow nicely for the next two to six years.
