There is so much rain coming down here in LA, it just makes us want to stay home and drink wine all day. Speaking of drinking wine you should come on down to our South Glendale or Pasadena Wine Bars to have some wines from three prominent wineries of Spain. Please join us for wine from Spain while avoiding the rain in LA.
Alto Moncayo Veraton 2014
91 PTS - ROBERT PARKER - "This is a 1,500 case cuvee that is pedal-to-the-metal material, as one might expect from Ringland. With an opaque ruby/purple color, beautiful blackberry, charcoal and oaky notes are followed by a modern-style wine with huge fruit, big body, sweet tannin and a long finish."
Alto Moncayo 'Moncayo' 2014
93 PTS - VINOUS - "Dark violet. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red and dark berries, incense, vanilla and candied flowers, along with a vibrant mineral overtone. Juicy, concentrated and focused on the palate, offering intense black raspberry, boysenberry and spicecake flavors that deepen and spread out steadily on the back half. An impressively long, mineral-laced finish features silky, even tannins and an echo of lavender pastille."
Juan Gil Silver Label Monastrell
Deep purple/black color. Explosive aromas of ripe currant, red berries and smoky notes. Rich, powerful and voluminous on the attack, a huge mouthful of creme de cassis concentration, silken and juicy in the mid-palate with excellent length and persistence. Fine, ripe tannins, at once supple and structurally present.
El Nido Clio 2014
The wine exhibits a glass-coating opaque purple with an expressive nose of pain grille, underbrush, brier, mineral, blueberry, and blackberry fruit leading to a plush, opulent wine with great density, savory flavors, and a lengthy finish.
Cab Blau 'Can Blau' Montsant
Wood smoke, spice box, incense, lavender, black cherry and plum aromas are followed by a mouth-filling, round, dense wine with outstanding grip and length. it over-delivers in a big way. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.
Can Blau 'Mas de Can Blau'
It shows an enticing nose of mineral, incense, spice box, balsamic, black and blue fruits with greater depth and volume, and is a plush, layered, opulent package. Give this promising effort 2-3 years to fill out and drink it through 2024.
