Rare Character "Mission Exclusive" Single Barrel 59.79% Cask Strength Bourbon 750ml

Rare Character "Mission Exclusive" Single Barrel 59.79% Cask Strength Bourbon 750ml

SKU: 35851

The first of two single barrel cask strength MGP Bourbons celebrating the evolution of our Pasadena flagship location, this 59.79% 5 year old label reminisces back to the 1980s when we were still known as Mission Tobacco! The store was still located in what is now our warehouse, and the original “Tobacco” sign was still painted white. Bold and powerful on the palate, using MGP's high rye mash bill (60% corn / 36% rye / 4% barley) this is the type of Bourbon that Zohrab Mankerian—our original founder—would have paired with a fine cigar. Loaded with spice, vanilla sweetness across the palate, and plenty of oak from front to back, it's our first homage to Pasadena and the history of Mission Wine & Spirits. Stay tuned for barrel number two!

Rare spirits, great service

The rare spirits edition was amazing. The tasting notes were spot on. Glad mission can bring us these rare drams ! Service at mission is impeccable! Thank you team Mission!

Fast shipping and great bourbon!

Super happy with how quick we got the bourbon we ordered, especially with it being around the holidays. The quality of the packaging was also sturdy, holding the bottles well. We ended up ordering two more Mission Exclusives.

A Nice Pour

I grabbed this bottle not knowing much about it and I was not disappointed. I grabbed another single barrel from another store to compare and this barrel was much more pleasant on the nose and palate. Nice pick!

Rare Character

Incredible stuff coming from Pablo! His picks at Old Lightning never disappoint and now his own battles of bourbon are equally delicious! Price is a bit higher for the age, but don’t let it fool you! These are special barrels that bat way above their weight class.

A very tasty blend, but not sure its "rare"

This bourbon has an interesting back story, but it drinks to me more like an everyday or once a week sipper than a special occasion bourbon. I like MGP juice, but I have had more exciting versions of it. IMHO, this tastes like a blend of 1910 and Nulu, but for the price, I'd take a bottle of Nulu. It's worth a try, but I probably won't be stocking up on it unless it opens up more in the bottle. If I want something to stand up to a cigar, I picture the Jos. Magnus doing a better job.
