  • WHY: The new Four Pillars Olive Leaf gin is like a distilled dirty martini in a bottle, you don't need tonic or any other type of mixer (other than maybe a little additional olive juice) to create the perfect pour at home. Sip it neat, or on the rocks—it doesn't matter. No matter how you enjoy this gin, the savoriness and the delicacy of the gin are unbeatable, delivering haunting notes of olive and brine that linger on the finish for minutes.
  • HOW: Using three types of cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil and olive leaf tea from the world-class groves of Victoria's Cobram Estate, the team at Four Pillars then added botanicals like rosemary and bay leaf to bring out the flavors of the Mediterranean (even though they're really from the distiller's garden), with native macadamia nuts and lemon myrtle as well.
  • WHAT: Four Pillars Distillery is located in Australia’s Yarra Valley, about an hour outside of Melbourne, and is 100% dedicated to the distillation of gin—nothing else. Under the guidance of distiller Cameron MacKenzie, Four Pillars as become an international sensation with its intoxicating array of incredibly flavorful and delicious spirits. The Olive Branch gin is bottled at 43.8% ABV.

Australian Gin

Previous Australian Gin is Four Pillars Fault Line. Wonderful Gin makes a great gin and tonic with Fever Tree. The Olive Branch makes a totally different tasting gin and tonic as could be expected; but a wonderful contrast. I think the Fault Line makes a better gin and tonic. My next experiment was to mix one double jigger of Olive Branch with a single jigger of Amaro Montenegro and a dash of bitters over ice. Blew my mind! I don't know what to call it but will do it again. I still want to try it as a martini gin, but try to keep my experiments simple and not too frequent ( I'm a little too old to go too wild!). Both Australian gins are masterpieces and we will keep buying anything that Mission Wine and Spirits will offer from that distillery.
